Speed Racer Sky Jump Actually Works

Any child of the '70's is a born skeptic.  Us boys grew up being sold race car tracks that never worked like they were supposed to work on the box.

Fighting robots never quite worked right, either.

Electronic football was a complete joke.

Air hockey boards were airless.

Remote control cars had wires to the cars.

My wife didn't take my advice. She bought my son a Speed Racer Sky Jump electronic racing set for his birthday despite my "healthy dose of skepticism."

I was (still am) a fan of Speed Racer.  I liked my Hot Wheels cars, and I would have loved to have had a track that actually worked for which to play when I was a kid.

As I was putting it together, I was waiting for some key part to break.  I kept thinking how I was going to explain to my seven-year-old how these things never work.

But my skeptism went fornaught.

Wow!

It works.  It actually works.
