I found the last of my upsides from the 235-hours-living-Amish experience June 29 to July 9 from the derecho.
I got my electric bill.  The meter got read two days after power was restored to my house.
Mind you, last year, our two-week family vacation occurred during the period of time that included this billing period.  However, more than a few electronic devices remained on throughout the vacation versus nothing on for 10 days this year.
I did far better than I would have guessed.
The final answer?  My electric usage was 49% of last year's usage.
The difference was a savings of $110.  I also expect cable, Internet, and phone service credits of another $50.
Don't get me wrong.  I would have much rather spent the money.
