More STEM and Aerospace Industry Reflections

"Do we have enough engineers to innovate?"  That was a question Boeing VP Stan Deal asked himself during a Q&A session at the recent Ohio Aerospace Jobs Summit hosted by U.S. Senator Rob Portman.

What a great question.

The answer was, "No" though.

The nation's, and Ohio's, supply of engineering talent is not keeping up with demand now or in the near-term future.  Plain and simple.

That's why Deal put STEM education as #3 on his personal list of the Top 3 challenges that the Ohio aerospace industry faces.

Though Deal was taking a national perspective in asking the question, it really takes local solutions to turn his answer around to a "yes" in the future.  Licking County is doing its part with the STEM efforts at The Works in Newark.
