I Was Prepared to Give a Kotkin Lecture. . .

. . .but didn't have to do it.

I brought a print out with me, made some notes, and even had my signed copy of Joel Kotkin's The Next Hundred Million:America in 2050 with me in case.

Yesterday, I went to a meeting where Ohio Governor John Kasich was asking a roundtable of folks for thoughts about what Ohio could be doing to help with job creation.  I'm grateful to Bayer and the Licking County Chamber for the invitation to talk about the topic.  I'm even more grateful to report that Governor Kasich beat me to the punch.

His opening remarks and continuing remarks were Kotkinesque, whether he knew it or not.  He emphasized the need to spread the word about the importance of advanced manufacturing to our state and the need to invest in workforce skills training. The talk about STEM education, related to both topics, was part of the discussion too.

The 45 minutes with him almost never left these points.
This is great news in my book!  (And Kotkin's real book too.)
