Guest Post: Manufacturing and STEM

The columnist is out for a few days so a take on some guest blogs is in order. Enjoy!

A blog titled "Manufacturing Ohio" ran a great piece in April that appears was originally written by Brigadier General Mansfield (retired).  It's right on.

The piece is titled "Exciting American Youth About Manufacturing" and makes a very good case for adding Manufacturing to the acronym STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) as a way to increase the focus on the need for manufacturing skills in the United States.

Mansfield says, "In order to excite the youth of America about manufacturing in the modern age, we need to raise the awareness of the youth." He advocates for a manufacturing-oriented, national program like agriculture has with the 4H.

Neat idea.  I hope it gets some legs.
