Denison Puts Licking County on the Map

Drop in any town in the nation outside of Ohio and tell someone you're from Licking County, Ohio.   Being honest, you'll very probably get a blank stare back.  Tell them that's where Denison University is located and your chance of recognition just increased greatly.

Denison University really puts Licking County on the map.

At any given time, Denison alums can be found in Fortune 500 boardrooms, U.S. Capitol chambers, and other VIP circles at higher percentage than most 2,100-student schools can boast.  It's given Denison a worldwide reputation that attracts the top students from all 50 states and dozens of countries seeking a world-class education.

Well-known alums range from Michael Eisner (former Disney CEO) to actress Jennifer Garner.

Some alums and local leaders gathered for the 31st time for an annual Business & Industry Breakfast this morning at the Burt Morgan Center on the Denison campus in Granville.  The group was treated to breakfast and a preview of the nearly $40 million in construction and renovations underway on the Denison athletic and recreation facilities.

Besides being a reminder of the local, economic stimulus that comes from $40 million in construction, the event also was a reminder of the role Denison plays in Licking County.

As President Dale Knobel said, "Denison has been around for about 200 years.  Denison and Licking County have grown up together."

Indeed.
