Admittedly, I never thought about becoming Amish. I wish the storm that went through Friday hadn't given me the experience. Nonetheless, it did.
As I type this on a battery-powered device, I'm 77+ hours and counting without electricity at my house.
Frankly, I can't remember the last time I was this productive at home. Maybe there's something to this Amish lifestyle.
I took what was to be a vacation day away from the office and, instead of vacationing, scheduled car repairs (the car took a tree hit), welcomed a tree-clearing crew (the house showed no damage), washed outside windows, cleared the back patio, raked up storm debris (where did that styrofoam come from?), and got more done in any one day in a long, long time.
I was so productive I felt like I could have raised a barn and milked the herd.
Tonight, I'll go to sleep with the hope my Amish experience ends abruptly and soon. I'm grateful for the productive time though.
