Bridging the Manufacturing Skills Gap

This chart from The Manufacturing Institute shows the gap in manufacturing technician and engineering skills is growing around the country.  The 2011 Skills Gap Report is an eye opener and a must read.

Licking County has been working on this issue for some time now, tooling up during the downturn.  C-TEC has a growing list of WorkKeys-tested skilled technicians and continues to grow the pool of NAM's manufacturing-certified job seekers too.  Employers can go on OhioMeansJobs.com and look for 79|Seventy to browse the list of current candidates.

The skills gap is hitting everywhere, but I think Licking County has bridge the skills gap better than most places.
