One More Gorge-ous Weekend Day

My boys went back to Blackhand Gorge with me today.

That trip, after being granted permission to go on private property, included a look at one of the waterfalls. Here's the video:

We also saw the tunnel, towpath, canal lock, and top of Blackhand Rock.  All these were possible with proper permission from one of the landowners in the Rock Haven Park subdivision.

Here's the photos:
We're 70 feet over the Licking River on top of Black Hand Rock (aka Council Rock).

The old interurban railway tunnel.

How great is this place?  The Preserve Manager was kind enough to snap this photo.

On top of the towpath.  This is near where the "black hand" carving was that got destroyed constructing this canal towpath in the 1830's.

At the base of the waterfall.

A Google Maps "my places" map lets me show the 2011 views from the Gorge.

  1. I am enjoying going on these virtual hikes. Wish I was close enough to join you in person.
It looks like you had nice weather this weekend. It is cold and rainy out in southern California.
