Memorial Day Rememberance

I can't exactly call it a remembrance since I didn't even know he existed until yesterday. Today is a day of remembrance nonetheless.

This is my 3rd Great Grand Uncle Jacob Wilson Baylor, Jr. His older brother, David, was my Great Great Great Grandfather.

Born December 25, 1833 in Champaign County, Ohio, Jacob was a Civil War soldier. He served from McLean County, Illinois as his family had moved there in his youth.

I learned that he was among the Union soldiers held prisoner and who died at Andersonville, a horrible Confederate prison. He is recorded to have died January 5, 1864.

Memorial Day is a solemn day and my finding this information last night put the right tone to the day for me.
