This year's fire on Palmer Street in Athens during Palmer Fest, may be the last. The Dispatch reported on the house fire that brought an abrupt end to the 2012 edition.
The combination of a more aggressive enforcement effort, penalties imposed by the University, and Ohio's mandated move to Semesters could very well signal the end of this riot-proned event.
As an OU Dad, I couldn't be happier. I can see the value of my daughter's soon-to-be-granted degree rising with just the thought of it.
RIP Palmer Fest.
